Synopsis

“Lovely Runner” circles around the story of Ryu Seon Jae, an idol, and Im Sol, a girl who uses a wheelchair due to a past accident. Sol, inspired to keep living by Seon Jae’s encouraging words on a radio show, is devastated when Seon Jae, her favourite idol, suddenly commits suicide. By a twist of fate, Sol time travels back to their high school days…15 years to the past, determined to save Seon Jae.

🧸 My Feelings

Time travel, romance, school, tears, comedy… it has everything! The main characters, Ryu Seon Jae and Im Sol made the Lovely Runner world so perfect that I was able to laugh and cry at the same time. I can’t express in words how much I love this K-drama, but as a binge-watcher, who hates to watch ongoing drama, I watched this while the episodes were still coming out! (The pain of having to wait 🥹)

Sometimes, I did have second male lead syndrome, however, the love between Seon Jae and Sol was SO strong that this syndrome lasted for like 60 seconds. So if you’re scared of a third person butting in, there’s no need because Sol’s and Seon Jae’s hearts never wavered.

⭐️ 0.1 Stars Deduction

I have to say though, I do have to deduct 0.1 stars (JUST 0.1!!) from this drama because I’m not sure why the villain guy did exactly what he did. He kept targeting Sol and Seon Jae, so the whole time, I thought there was some backstory behind his Villain Arc. However, in the end, all I got was… he did what he did because he was not in his right mind. I just wished this was addressed more in the drama than just one script line. Thus, for me personally, I had to spend some time thinking to make sense of the villain’s actions.

The OSTs were PERFECT. (period)

My favourites have to be Sudden Shower, Like a Dream, and Spring Snow!

Sudden Shower: The actor, Byeon Woo-seok actually sang the OSTs, one of which is which Sudden Shower! This song actually accomplished very high rankings in the Korean music charts. But what makes me love this song so much is that just listening to the lyrics while watching the drama made me cry so much. This song truly expresses Seon Jae’s love for Sol.
