“Despicable Me 4” follows the life of Gru and his family, which includes the Minions, Gru Jr., Lucy, Margot, Edith, and Agnes. After being targeted by Maxime Le Mal—Gru’s past classmate from Lycée Pas Bon—his family has to move to a new town in hopes of safety. There, Gru assumes a new identity and meets new neighbors. However, trouble arises when his neighbor’s kid, Poppy, threatens Gru, saying she will blow his cover and tell everyone he’s a villain if he doesn’t help her with a heist.

I feel like this movie was similar to the other “Despicable Me” films. It was funny, had some action scenes, and was wholesome. I do like how (SPOILER) some of the Minions gained superhero powers, but instead of being typical heroes, they ended up creating more trouble for the town. I found that quite funny! However, aside from the “I have an enemy, then I defeat them” plotline, it felt like a very typical Minions movie. Nonetheless, it’s definitely a fun movie to watch with kids or friends!

It wasn’t special or mind-blowing. However, when I compared it to “Inside Out 2,” I think it has less of a plotline. If I give “Inside Out 2” a 3/5, then “Despicable Me 4” is a 2.9.
