One day, monster dungeons started to appear on Earth, disrupting the normal lives of humans. To protect the planet, people began to “awaken” with powers to defend against the monsters emerging from these dungeons. These awakened powers are classified by class, with S-class being the most powerful and E-class being the weakest. Our main character, Sung Jin-Woo, is an E-class, and what’s worse is that he’s the weakest among the E-classes. Jin-Woo is constantly looked down upon by his dungeon team members, struggling with no money or power. Whenever opportunities arise, he takes any tasks or missions to earn money for his family.

However, after barely surviving a “life-or-death” dungeon, he wakes up with a system that helps him train.

As someone who thinks they prefer romance, tragedy, and non-action stories, “Solo Leveling” was what drew me into the world of action manhwa and novels. I just love the way Jin Woo ranks up (the ranking system), the manhwa art, and the fighting scenes. I remember when my friend recommended this manhwa; I expected to read just one chapter and then drop it. However, after the first chapter, I was hooked on the second, and suddenly, I found myself reading the light novel since the manhwa was incomplete back then.

Moreover, I really like the side stories, which I found to be extremely cute. The slight hint of romance was perfect, but it’s very minimal! So if you’re looking for romance, this manhwa isn’t for you. What “Solo Leveling” gives me is the satisfying feeling of watching Jin Woo, the underdog, slap the faces of those who are too overpowered.

Although I really like this story, the ending felt a bit rushed. The story built up to a war for 190+ chapters, but then Jin Woo literally wrapped it up in just 1-2 chapters. It makes sense, but some parts felt a bit suspicious. Other than that, “Solo Leveling” is a pretty good manhwa! I totally recommend it~~
